DEFTECH Azerbaijan Enters a New Phase in the International Market: First Export and Technological Development
DEFTECH Azerbaijan showcased its local engineering capabilities, unmanned aerial systems, and achievements in international cooperation at the ADEX-2026 international defense exhibition.
DEFTECH Azerbaijan, a company operating in the country's defense industry, reached a significant milestone in its development in 2026. As a result of extensive research, design, and flight testing, the company executed its first international export and began expanding its presence in the global defense industry market.
ADEX-2026: From research to real product
At the ADEX-2026 exhibition, unlike in previous years, DEFTECH Azerbaijan displayed unmanned aerial vehicles that had successfully undergone actual flight testing, rather than mere prototype models.
Key solutions presented by the company include unmanned aerial systems featuring a tandem-wing design—specifically the FATUM 1500 and FATUM 5000 platforms—as well as autopilot and control software developed by local engineers.
First international export: Pakistan
In 2026, DEFTECH Azerbaijan carried out the first export of its products to Pakistan. This cooperation is not limited to the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles; it also encompasses operator training, flight instruction, and technical support in the fields of electronics and engineering.
This achievement marks a significant step in DEFTECH Azerbaijan’s transition from the research and development phase to international commercial operations.
Local engineering and technological independence
One of DEFTECH Azerbaijan’s key strategic priorities is the development of its own engineering and software capabilities.
The company’s team of Azerbaijani specialists works on the design, aerodynamic solutions, autopilot software, and system integration of unmanned aerial vehicles.
This approach enables the customization of products to meet diverse operational requirements, the continuous development of technological solutions, and the creation of opportunities for broader collaboration with international partners.
International cooperation and new technological directions
DEFTECH Azerbaijan has signed a memorandum of cooperation with a South Korean international technology company. Opportunities for technological integration and joint development are being explored within the framework of this partnership. In parallel, the company continues its research and development activities regarding turbojet-powered unmanned aerial systems. A prototype for the new project has been developed, and initial tests have been conducted. The next technological solutions are scheduled to be unveiled in 2027.
DEFTECH Azerbaijan’s Vision for the Future
The primary objective for DEFTECH Azerbaijan is not merely the manufacturing of unmanned aerial vehicles, but the development of a comprehensive technological ecosystem rooted in Azerbaijani engineering—one that integrates software, system integration, technical support, and operator training.
By strengthening local engineering capabilities, the company aims to foster international recognition of Azerbaijani technologies and contribute to the country's export of high-tech products.
